Terms
Terms of Use
Welcome to Honored Lives.
Honored Lives exists to preserve, celebrate, and protect the stories of people's lives for future generations. These Terms of Use describe the agreement between you and Honored Lives when you visit our website, create an account, contribute to a memorial, or care for one as a Family Steward.
We have written these terms in plain language so they can be read with ease. They are meant to protect the families we serve and to keep Honored Lives a place of dignity, trust, and remembrance.
Acceptance of these Terms
By using Honored Lives, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the platform. When you use Honored Lives on behalf of a family or organization, you confirm that you have the authority to do so.
Purpose of Honored Lives
Honored Lives is a memorial and legacy platform. Its purpose is to help families preserve, share, and honor the memories of people they love. We are not a social network, an advertising platform, or a marketing service. Every feature we build is shaped by that purpose.
User responsibilities
You are responsible for the information you provide, the content you contribute, and the way you use the platform. We ask every person who uses Honored Lives to act with honesty, kindness, and care for the families in our community.
Account security
Please keep your password confidential and choose a strong one. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account. If you believe your account has been accessed by someone else, please contact us immediately.
Family Portal responsibilities
Family Stewards agree to care for the memorials in their charge, to respect the wishes of the family, and to invite additional stewards or contributors thoughtfully. Stewards may approve, hide, restore, or remove submitted content, and they are trusted to make those decisions with wisdom and compassion.
Memorial contributions
When you contribute a photograph, video, audio recording, written memory, or guest book message, you confirm that you have the right to share it and that it reflects the person being remembered with honesty and respect.
Acceptable use
To keep Honored Lives a safe and honorable place, you agree not to:
- Submit content that is false, misleading, defamatory, harassing, or hateful.
- Submit content that is unlawful, obscene, or otherwise harmful.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your relationship to a memorial.
- Use the platform for advertising, solicitation, or commercial promotion.
- Attempt to access accounts, memorials, or Vault content that you have not been invited to.
- Interfere with the security, availability, or integrity of the platform.
We reserve the right to remove content or accounts that violate these expectations, and to take appropriate steps to protect the families in our care.
Intellectual property
The Honored Lives name, logo, design, written material, and underlying software are owned by Honored Lives and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or reuse these elements without our written permission.
Copyright and user-submitted content
You retain ownership of the content you contribute. By submitting content to Honored Lives, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, display, and preserve that content for the purpose of operating the memorial and the platform. This license exists only so that we can show the content on the memorial and keep it safe over time. It does not transfer ownership.
Moderation
Honored Lives supports two layers of thoughtful moderation.
Family Steward moderation rights
Family Stewards may review, approve, hide, restore, or remove contributions to the memorials they steward. Stewards may also adjust invitation and contribution settings at any time.
Honored Lives moderation rights
We may remove content that violates these Terms, that appears to be unlawful, or that is reported and found to cause harm. Where appropriate, we work with Family Stewards before taking action, so that decisions are made with care for the family.
Removal of inappropriate content
If you believe content on Honored Lives is inappropriate, harmful, or violates someone's rights, please contact us at Info@HonoredLives.org. We take reports seriously and respond personally.
Gifts of Support and payment processing
When you offer a Gift of Support or make another payment, the transaction is processed by a trusted third-party provider such as PayPal. Their terms and privacy practices apply to the payment itself. Honored Lives does not receive or store full payment card details.
Gifts are generally non-refundable, except where required by law or where a clear error has occurred. If you have a concern about a gift, please reach out and we will do our best to help.
Availability of the platform
We work to keep Honored Lives available around the clock, but we cannot guarantee that the platform will always be accessible without interruption. From time to time we may need to perform maintenance, address a security matter, or make improvements. We aim to minimize disruption whenever possible.
Disclaimer of warranties
Honored Lives is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we care deeply about the quality of the platform, we cannot offer legal warranties that it will be error-free, uninterrupted, or perfectly suited to every purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including those of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Honored Lives and its team will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the platform. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you have paid to Honored Lives, if any, in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes to the service
Honored Lives will continue to grow. We may add features, refine existing ones, and occasionally retire features that no longer serve our mission. When a change materially affects how you use the platform, we will do our best to communicate it clearly.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make meaningful changes, we will update the date below and, where appropriate, notify Family Stewards directly. Continued use of Honored Lives after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
Governing law
These Terms will be governed by the laws applicable at the location of Honored Lives' principal place of business. The specific jurisdiction and venue will be confirmed by legal counsel and reflected in a future update to this document.

For any question about these Terms, please write to Info@HonoredLives.org. A real person will read your message.
